This is a 1961 John Deere 4010 tricycle diesel farm tractor, s/n 15403. This is an older tractor but still very much a tractor that you could use for work for as a project tractor to fix up and show off. It has a strong 84 HP diesel motor that fires right up and runs strong. There’s a minor amount of blowby, but nothing to worry about and there are some damp spots on the block, transmission, etc., but no real leaks that I can see. It’s showing 313 hours, but I seriously doubt that that’s correct. It does start up and run well, just like it should. The sheet metal is a little rough in some places and there’s some minor surface rust, there’s also a hole in the left rear fender where the fender attaches to the mounting bracket, but overall the metal is pretty good all around. The paint is fading and showing its age, but it’s still not that bad overall and the Roll-O-Matic front end is working like it should and making it much easier to drive this tractor. The rubber is decent all around with some of the usual dryrot cracks, but there’s still tread left and the tires are all holding air. The seat is good with just a couple of tares in the arm rests and the controls, brakes and clutch are all working as they should. It has 2 rear wet lines and the 8/3 transmission shifts like it should through all the gears. It’s running well and it’s not new, but it is still very much a tractor you could use for work or to fix up and enter in the antique tractor shows (or take it to the show and make ice cream with it.) Either way, it’s a good tractor, come by and take a look at it, drive it around and I don’t think you will be disappointed.
